Sarah Warwick of Speaking & Eating With Sarah is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours). She has 9 years’ experience working in community health, disability and inpatient services across the lifespan in South Australia and Western Australia. Sarah has a particular focus on supporting children and their families around communication and feeding and swallowing.
In regards to communication, Sarah has extensive experience supporting children from birth to preschool with the following:
-Difficulties Being Understood By Others Or Saying Certain Sounds
-Difficulties Joining In Play With Other Children
-Difficulties Increasing The Range Of Words Used
-Difficulties Putting Words Or Sentences Together
-Difficulties Understanding Questions Or Instructions
-Late Talkers
She is trained in the Hanen It Takes Two to Talk and More Than Words programs with her primary goal to empower families with the skills to support their child’s ongoing communication development.
In regards to feeding and swallowing, Sarah has a passion and extensive expertise supporting children from birth to 18 years of age with the following:
● difficulties with breast or bottle feeding and cup drinking
● difficulties transitioning to solids and working towards family style meals
● fussy eaters, picky eaters and children with limited foods in their diet
● children who have difficulties trying or accepting new foods
● frequent gagging or choking during mealtimes
● oral aversions
● difficult mealtime behaviors or stressful mealtimes
● difficulties with chewing or biting
● transitioning from tube feeding to oral feeding or difficulties taking enough volume orally
● dysphagia
She is trained in the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding program. She uses these principles to support parents to understand their child’s difficulties and work together to identify strategies to support their child’s ongoing feeding development and make mealtimes a relaxed and enjoyable experience for all.
Sarah is able to offer clinic or home-based sessions and services are able to be provided under Medicare, Private Health Insurance, Better Start, Helping Children With Autism, NDIS and WA NDIS.
